In many instances, a Games Console is simply a small-grade PC that has been stripped down to perform specific tasks.

Classic Example: The XboxEdit

In all respects, the Xbox is a PC. It includes an Internal Power Supply, Motherboard, a Network Card, a Sound Card, a Graphics Card, a Hard Drive, an External Bus, and an Optical Drive.

The only thing that seperates the Xbox from a PC is the BIOS. It prevents the users from running anything but Microsoft Software designed for the Xbox.
